A Call to Farmers' Markets
Here in New Hampshire it is Farmers' Market time. I love these markets because they bring quality, value, freshness, beauty and friendliness to those who shop at them.
In my discussions with farmers who attend markets I find there is a challenge to our Farmers' Markets, the grocery stores. These stores are changing to meet the customer's needs for fresh fruits and vegetables all the way to the manner in which they set up their displays. I believe with a good positioning strategy a Farmers' Market can set itself apart from its competitors.
Sometimes when determining a positioning strategy it is a search for the obvious, but not always. If your a market manager and/or a vendor go through the process of: identifying the competition, determining the potential customers desires and matching the products and services to those desires. This process will lead you to the ability to develop a strong positioning strategy.
I wrote an article about this a while ago, try it with your Farmers' Market and let me know how it works.
